A work in progress
COVID
With the help of my family, I have been rebuilding my house during the COVID years. On top of my father updating structural problems, he has also almost finished re-siding the exterior and replacing the windows. The porch is an upcoming project. I created a walkway out of stepping stones in the backyard.
Inside, the ceilings are freshly painted or replaced. I created a stained glass window to replace an old-fashioned window with broken glass. Sheetrock will replace interior paneling.
Instead of shutters, I have decided to create sea creatures, as the house is located about 100 feet from a beach. In the carousel above, you can see the beginning stages of the process. Drawings became computer illustrations – which were then tile printed to create large-scale blueprints. Next, I made cardboard cutouts. I stenciled the creatures onto PVC boards and sawed them out. Finally, I painted them blue and green to match the trim on the house. This is an ongoing project.
